Sometimes we have doubts in our own ability, some days the mountains we have to climb seem insurmountable. On days like these, I try to remember to look back at how far I have come. If we remember all the challenges we have already faced and all the battles we have won, this can be enough to motivate us to keep going forward. When we are in the middle of a difficult time and we can see no way out, it is easy to just give up or have a defeated attitude. But, we need to take ourselves outside the situation (mentally at least), for a period of time, and look in as if looking from the outside. What would an outsider see? How might they advise us? What can we tell ourselves that might help?
Hard times will come (and go), and often they are preparing us for greater things. They are a way of developing our strength and resilience, also our character. At these times we can really find ourselves and begin to see what we are made of. There is a saying which says “if it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you”.
We will constantly be challenged by a range of experiences and circumstances throughout our lives ~ living them, learning from them and taking our lives forward is what really matters. If you are going through a difficult time right now – keep going – you will eventually come out the other side!
