The Greatest Love of All
It is said that there is no greater love than that of a parent for a child. How much more then must God love us? That He would sacrifice his own Son in order to save the rest of humanity; for all time. The fact that He loves ‘me’ and ‘you’ that much – despite our mess and our sins- never fails to amaze and astound me. I sometimes don’t feel I can live up to that love; yet truly he does not ask me to. I just have to be me – his creation – and I try to be the best version of me I can be. It doesn’t always work. Sometimes I fail miserably. But, Father God just picks me up, forgives me and we start again (just as a human parent does for the love of their child).
Jesus is the greatest love of all – we are commanded “Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no-one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends” (John 15: 12-13). He chose to make himself available to God and offer the ultimate sacrifice – his love – for us. Amazing! This is a love that lasts longer than Valentines Day, longer than a lifetime – it is for ALL time. If you want to know this love, ask Him today. Find a Church and they will show you the way. As we approach Easter, in this season of Lent, it is the perfect time to learn more of His love.
Love and be loved my friends.
